It's been awhile. Here are some low-res stills of shark suit. These still need character texturing and some lights. I've got almost half of the shots in progress right now. 90 shots in all, so still a ways to go. But it's starting to come together. It's been great having some people help with setting up projects, camera and set blocking, etc. Hopefully I'll be getting more people to help out with animation in the next few weeks.

AENY.org

Hey dudes,

Here's some info on an after effects hullabaloo next Thursday. I'll be talking about my short film, "bigfoot's eulogy," and also explaining practices for character setup and animation in AE. Rigging and animating photoshop/illustrator puppets in AE has really exploded in the past few years, so be sure to join the meeting and see what's up. Plus free pizza. for more info check out www.aeny.org

shark suit: animation begins. This shot's about halfway done.

Today I was severely freaked out by how much work I need to do to complete my film in the next 12 weeks. It boils down to animating a little less than shot a day. Half of them are pretty quick--2 seconds or so. The rest....

It's possible, even with work and school It won't be fun, though. It's also a little disappointing to see the characters as after effects puppets. They're decent rigs, but it's still difficult to get good lines without using too much mesh warp. Not as much fun as doing the boards.

Here's some concept art I've been doing for Liz Toonkel's film, "Fashion Kills." It's live action, but definitely has a unique look and script going for it. I think shooting starts in april. You can check out more at www.liztoonkel.com

Hey dudes. I've been really busy and haven't had time to post much.

Here's a little gift to say I'm sorry. It's from an incredible hulk paperback I found. Both in and out of context, it's very strange to me.

some images from shark suit. I shot these today with my pal nardeep, to be useed as bgs and overlays in the more surreal shots. We also made some cool effects with milk and food coloring. Lots of swirly. Very psychedelic when sped up 1200%

A lobster I've been animating in after effects. uses a lot of CC bendit, a pretty swell effect.

My sketches from a piece by Annette Messager, "les enfants aux yeux rayƩs, mes dessins d'enfant" 1972. The designs seem oddly otherworldly, even for kid art.

new bg for shark suit. Still needs a lot, but gives you the idea. It's all 3d in after effects, so I can just pan around. I'm a sucker for those crane shots.

ham

I'm not sure why it's purple. Perhaps some funky html?

I blame Mr. Steve Jobs. While his new phone is cool and everything, my powerbook is falling apart. after one ram card and two logic board replacements in the past 8 months, it's again acting spaztastic.

Sleep drawings

Sometimes I doodle right while I'm falling asleep. I close my eyes, turn out the lights, and do nothing in particular to keep myself awake. I just try to draw whatever pictures I imagine for as long as I can hold onto the pen. Drawn results are mixed, but as a pre-slumber exercise it helps me dream longer and remember my dreams better.

Here I can sort of decipher/remember what I drew. From left to right, up down: A goat-person. Top of man's face. Set up for a cardboard sailboat on a cardboard stage. Nodding duck head. Swanky designer chair.
