my brother is hiking the Appalachian trail. Yesterday I received his mustache in the mail. He sent it to me. Thought about scanning it, but I'm not sure who's really interested in seeing a wad of hair.

here are some sleep drawings instead. I don't remember what these are. While I was drawing them, I was in the process of falling asleep. No lights, no looking until morning.

some underused charaters alex and I came up with a long while ago. for a comic strip. sven, a german goth-band drummer. And his cousin, a cyclops from denmark. Come to think of it, sounds much like the tv series "perfect strangers."

A friend of mine asked me to build him a giant ear for a film he was making. I made the ear, but he ended up not making the film. So here's my big ear.

Now that school's pretty much out, I'd like to make more giant stuff. Perhaps a nose. And maybe a series of strange decorative helmets.

Chicken cowboy.

Shark Suit screened yesterday, getting some nice reactions. A few people have been asking what's next. Here are a few scribbles for my senoir project. I hope to develop this character through the summer, exploring his history, personality, and environment. This is the part I love.

The designs will probably change radically, but I want to keep the texture and feeling similar to these two pieces. I've got a couple major scenes in mind. You can expect action, romance, and some weirdness. With any luck I'll have something finished in under a year, but I've got a couple other film ideas, too.

I'll just call this project chicken cowboy for now.

Yes. It's that time of year again.

Shark Suit: the Musical will be screening. Then on to festivals. Hopefully.

If you're wondering, that in the poster lego guy is from an awesome film in the showcase by david pagano (www.paganomation.com). Cause he's my pal, he also did a Little Guys Shark Suit figure. I hold it dear to my heart.

And here's some more from my sketchbook. My room, part 2.

Friday, April 13, 2007

Hey! I'm rendering Shark Suit. This is my first film in HD and I seem to be encountering every problem unknown to man. My strategy--if a render fails on one computer, use a different computer. It's working so far.

In other news, Bigfoot's Eulogy is screening tonight at NYU's First Run Film Festival. 6:30 pm at Cantor Film Center, 36 East 8th Street.

Anyhow, here's some bigfoot stuff. You'll notice "stephenneary.com" at the bottom of the card, which I am constantly putting off updating because I've been so busy. Maybe sometime this week.

I'll repost this shark suit thing, too.

I'm rendering out and tweaking shots on shark suit, so it's tons of waiting around at the lab. I've got some time to update.

First off, some pictures from bigfoot's trip to LA.

A big fountain at the Academy of TV Arts & Sciences Foundation.

And the theater. It's the nicest theater my work will ever be shown at. Very comfy chairs.

There's the voice of my pal Alex Lee up on the screen. And the back of someone's head.

Lastly, here are some pictures I did for Liz Toonkel's advanced film, Fashion Kills. She's shooting it all right now (on super 8, how cool is that?)

Hi everyone,
It's been awhile. I've been very busy finishing shark suit. Only one and a half weeks left, and it's just about finished. All the animation is done, but it still needs to be tweaked in spots. So I've got a tight week for some hd rendering and sound design. yikes. Luckily, the nick jr show I work on, wonder pets!, takes a two week break starting next week. Not a moment too soon.

I also went to LA this past weekend for the college TV awards. Bigfoot's Eulogy took home 2nd place in non-traditional animation. It was also named "festival favorite" at the collge TV awards festival. Hopefully I can make it back for shark suit and my film after that.

It was a cool trip. I got to catch up on sleep. I'll post some event pictures when I get a second.

Here's a still from shark suit.
